Dear friends,
First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to all that supported Dunderry Park and the Oaktree Charitable Trust in 2011. It has been an extraordinary year. It saw us run our first international festival and gathering the Spirit of Folk Festival and also was the year we took Spirit in the City to the next level with guest speakers from all around the world as well as welcoming everyone as always to the warm fires and tall standing trees at Dunderry Park.
2011 saw a huge increase in international visitors to Dunderry who have heard about the community of people interested in Shamanism and the work that we do here at the centre. We hope to nourish these connections in 2012 and that Dunderry will become a centre where, as children of Gaia, we can come together, one tiny step at a time, to bring more love, compassion and healing to ourselves and others.

The next Spirit in the City will be an exploration into Shamanic Journeying as a method for self exploration and insight.
Shamanism is humanities oldest spiritual practice and it has long been thought that the particular rituals, ceremonies and journeys used by our ancestors are still relevant to us today.
The Spirit boat, in particular, is an ancient shamanic ritual performed by indigenous communities to journey together to non ordinary reality to access deep knowledge and wisdom. We will physically build a boat with chairs, then sitting facing west we will open sacred space by rattling in the 4 directions, smudging the boat, chanting, drumming and rattling as we launch the boat on our collective journey. We will then be supported by powerful hemi sync music from the amazing "Shamans Heart" album.

We are very excited to announce that the next Spirit in the City will be a night learning and experiencing the phenomenon of LAUGHTER YOGA with very special guest and friend Angie Kinsella.
As always the night will kick off with tea, coffee and chats followed by a short drumming journey/meditation. Angie will then give us a brief history and explanation of Laughter Yoga followed by a mini workshop.
We will then break for tea followed by chats, discussions and QandA�s.

Angie Kinsella of YogaWay is delighted to be introducing the joys & tools of laughter yoga to spirit in the city.
In the mini workshop we will be practicing a couple of simple warm up games focusing on childlike playfulness (children laugh on average 300 times a day, adults laugh 15 times, lets reconnect to the kid in all of us). Eye contact is another important factor in helping us to connect deeply to each other in a light and fun loving way. These games will allow us to loosen up and feel free to laugh for no reason at all. The games will be followed by a simple meditation working with unconditional laughter, inner smiling to rejuvenate, nurture and increase the life force in the body finishing with a grounding meditation.

Harvard professors Richard Alpert and Timothy Leary made counterculture history in 1963 when they were fired from that institution for conducting controversial psychedelic drug research. In the purple haze aftermath, Alpert journeyed to India and found his guru Maharaj Ji, who renamed him Ram Dass (servant of God). Best known for his 1971 bestseller �Be here now�, which was a spiritual touchstone of the era, Ram Dass became an inspiration to people across the globe. Filmmaker Mickey Lemle � who has known his subject for more than twenty five years � intersperses vivid archival footage from hippiedoms glory days with intimate glimpses of Ram Dass today, as he continues to remake his life since being � in his words � �stroked� in 1997. Named by Newsweek as on of the top five non-fiction films of 2002, Ram Dass Fierce Grace is an engrossing, poignant meditation on spirituality, consciousness, healing and the unexpected grace of aging.
