The Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies was set up by Martin Duffy to promote and research traditional and contemporary Shamanism. It is part of the Oaktree Charitable Trust based at Dunderry Park. Shamanism is the oldest spiritual and healing practice on the planet dating back 50,000 years. This tradition has grown out of humanity’s experience of evolving out of the earth and our intimate connections to our mother. When we journey into the inner realms through the doors of perception using our minds eye to explore the wondrous world of imagination, we can tap into the greater store of wisdom that our ancestors have accumulated throughout the milenia. This ancient wisdom can help us heal ourselves each other and the earth

SHAMANIC COUNSELLING 2024
ABOUT SHAMANIC COUNSELLING
FULLY BOOKED!
This method involves the client journeying to the drumming cd, the client narrates their journey which is recorded for review later. The counsellor helps the client formulate the intention for the journey and later works with the client to help them understand their experience.
The training consists of an initial four day intensive module and follow up training and supervision day. This workshop is devoted to experiential practice in intention framing, journeying and shamanic exploration of the counselling session.

The Shamanic Practitioner Training Course is a pre-requisite for attending, preferably completed with Martin Duffy but if you have completed your Shamanic Training elsewhere please email us at info@shamanismireland.com prior to booking.

The online course, The Journey Home, Playing the Cosmic Game is also a pre-requisite for entry to this course.
A Certificate in Shamanic Counselling will be awarded.
NO previous experience in Counselling is needed to take this course. Priority of place will be given to those who have completed the online course 'The Journey Home-Playing the Cosmic Game'.

ABOUT THIS COURSE
This is our new online course on the Elements of Shamanism delivered by The Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies and Martin Duffy from Dunderry Park in Co. Meath, Ireland.
This course includes five lectures in total, one being an experiential module and two Recorded Question and Answer Sessions.
The first module will be on the cosmology and history of shamanism which includes a description of the four worlds (the lower world, the middle world, the upper world and the underworld). The second lecture will be on the archaic techniques of ecstasy-non ordinary states of consciousness. The third lecture will be on soul loss and soul retrieval. The fourth lecture will be on death-rebirth and psychopomp work. The fifth module will be an experiential demonstration on Shamanic Techniques and Practices. The Q&A sessions were recorded live and addressed participants questions about different aspects of the course.

ABOUT SHAMANISM
The way of the Shaman is the way of the “wounded healer”, to be human is to be wounded. Shamanic experiences are part of everyday life, the cycles of birth, death and re-birth are an intrinsic part of our reality. This pattern is repeated throughout our lives as we are continually being born into new experiences and dying to old habits, behaviour patterns and belief systems.The shaman uses ecstatic techniques to enter the shamanic state of consciousness (SSC) travel out of the body, make contact with spirit guides and power animals and therefore effect changes in ordinary reality, working closely with nature and the elemental forces. Shamanic practice and techniques help us reconnect to ourselves, each other, the Earth and to the great mystery that we are all a part of. Shamans and mystics journey to the inner world to confront the shadow side, contact teachers and guides and mediate healing and visionary teachings for the community. In order to raise our consciousness we all must do our inner work, confront our shadow side, withdraw our negative projections and make contact with our true glorious divine nature. The Centre is based at Dunderry Park in the historic Boyne Valley, close to the sacred sites of Tara, Newgrange, Sliabh na Cailleach and Uísneach.

ABOUT MARTIN DUFFY
Martin Duffy is one of the leading voices on Shamanism in the world today having worked as a mental health professional for over 35 years. He is an accredited Jungian, Transpersonal and Humanistic Psychotherapist. He has trained with Indigenous Shaman’s in the Amazon, Andes, South Africa, Mexico and Mongolia. He has also trained with Stanislav Grof as a Holotropic Breathwork facilitator and Transpersonal Therapist. Martin’s work is heavily influenced by the Druidic traditions of ancient Ireland. He comes from a lineage of traditional Folk Healers following in the footsteps of his mother and grandfather. He has been the director of The Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies for over 24 years. Martin offers One to One sessions in Dunderry Park.
